The Doncaster Handicap is a Group 1 open handicap race held annually each April at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales during the autumn racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1600 metres and offers $1,500,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Doncaster Handicap was won by Rangirangdoo from Road To Rock with Brilliant Light third.
Also known as the Doncaster Mile, the race takes place on one of the AJC's biggest days of racing for the year, with two other Group 1 races also on the card, the AJC Australian Oaks and The Galaxy.

The Doncaster Handicap is one of the premier mile races on the Australian racing calendar each year and the highlight of the Randwick autumn racing carnival. It is one of the toughest 1600m handicap events in Australian racing and the assembled field is typically filled with top quality gallopers which usually makes finding the winner a tough assignment, unless there is an outstanding galloper entered.
Four-year-olds have a good record of winning this race in recent times and if they can race on the pace then they are even more suited. The race is the autumn equivalent of the other great Randwick mile race of the spring, the Gr1 Epsom Handicap, and the talented Racing To Win managed to win both races in 2006.
The Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) held two weeks earlier has proven a good guide to the winner of this race over the past few years, with Vision And Power (2009), Haradasun (2007), Racing To Win (2006) and Grand Armee (2nd in 2003) all going on to win this race after winning the Ryder.
Rangirandoo (2010) ran consecutive seconds in the Gr2 Apollo Stakes, Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes and Gr1 Ranvet Stakes before scoring a well earned victory in this event. Recent winners of the Doncaster mile include Vision And Power (2009) and Triple Honour (2008).

2010 Doncaster Handicap: Rangirangdoo was well ridden to settle just behind the leaders and he bided his time until required in the straight and he ran home strongly in the final 200m to score a most impressive victory. Road To Rock (second) took advantage of an inside run in the straight to run to the lead before beaing overtaken late by the eventual winner, while third placegetter Brilliant Light was wide all the way and produced a big run to finish third.
