The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival revolves around the two principal metropolitan clubs, the Australian Jockey Club, which races at Randwick and Warwick Farm, and the Sydney Turf Club, which races at Rosehill and Canterbury.
Focusing on the two major racing periods of racing for each club, the Sydney autumn racing carnival highlight is the STC's Golden Slipper Festival at Rosehill Gardens in early April, while the AJC hosts the major Doncaster Handicap Easter Carnival at Royal Randwick in late April.
The Sydney autumn carnival is the major racing carnival in New South Wales each year and both the AJC and STC will offer over $21Million in total prize money over the carnival. The Group 2 Expressway Stakes at Rosehill in February is the first group race of the new year in Sydney, while the Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm in March is the first Group 1 event of the year.
Hosting the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, the Sydney Turf Club's jewell in the crown is the $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill racecourse in April. Slipper Day now boasts five Group One races in total, including the $2.25M The BMW, in one of the great days of racing in Australia each year.

A week after the Slipper, Randwick is the centre of attention, when the Australian Jockey Club's carnival begins at Randwick racecourse in April.
Major races, the AJC Australian Derby, Doncaster Handicap and the AJC Australian Oaks all lead up to the running of four Group 1 races on the final day, highlighted by the Sydney Cup over 3200m.
