The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival revolves around metropolitan racing at the newly formed Australian Turf Club which was created in 2010 after a merger between the Australian Jockey Club, which raced at Randwick and Warwick Farm and the Sydney Turf Club who conducted racing at Rosehill and Canterbury.

Focusing on the two major racing carnivals at Rosehill and Randwick, the Sydney autumn racing carnival highlight is the Golden Slipper Festival at Rosehill Gardens in early April, while Randwick hosts the big Doncaster Handicap carnival in late April.

The Sydney autumn carnival is the major racing carnival in New South Wales each year offering more than $21Million in total prize money over the carnival. The Group 2 Expressway Stakes at Rosehill in February is the first group race of the new year in Sydney, while the Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm in March is the first Group 1 event of the year.

Hosting the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, Sydney's jewel in the crown is the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill racecourse in April. Slipper Day now boasts five Group One races in total, including the $2.25M The BMW, in one of the great days of racing in Australia each year.

A week after the Slipper, Randwick is the centre of attention with its three day carnival taking place over three consecutive Saturdays in mid April, headlined by major Group 1 races such as the AJC Australian Derby, Doncaster Handicap and AJC Australian Oaks.

The final day of the Randwick carnival features four Group 1 races on the card, highlighted by the Sydney Cup over 3200m.
