The Angus Armanasco Stakes is a Group 2 set weights race for three-year-old fillies that takes place in February each year at Caulfield racecourse in Melbourne. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres and offers $175,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Angus Armanasco Stakes was won by Set For Fame from Gigas with Irish Lights third.
In 2010, the MRC reduced the Angus Armanasco Stakes to a distance of 1400 metres and changed the race conditions from set weights only to a set weights & penalties race. The changes were made to coincide with the VRC's decision to reduce the Gr2 Kewney Stakes (run 2 weeks later) to 1400 metres on Super Saturday of Racing at Flemington in March.

The Angus Armanasco Stakes is a nice little race for three-year-old fillies that takes place on Blue Diamond Stakes day and is the perfect lead up race to the Gr2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) which is a good quality 3yo fillies race on Super Saturday of Racing at Femington in a fortnight.
The race generally assembles the better class fillies going around at the time, and they will typically come to this race via the Gr2 Vanity Stakes at Flemington three weeks prior and may even consider tackling the Gr2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley the following Friday night.
Quality females Miss Finland (2007), Special Harmony (2004) and Champagne (1998) were successful in this event and it is a race for good fillies.
Set For Fame (2010) won the listed Kevin Hayes Stakes on her way to winning this race at her second run from a spell and recent winners of the Angus Armanasco Stakes have been Gold Water (2009) and Zarita (2008).

2010 Angus Armanasco Stakes: Set For Fame sat back off the pace around midfield before coming with a strong run as they rounded the turn and then kept going strongly in the straight to score a very good win. Gigas battled on gallantly for second after racing on the pace all the way, while Irish Lights came from well back in the field to run on fairly well to snare third place.
