The Vanity Stakes is a Group 3 race for three-year-old fillies that takes place late January or early February each year at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne. The race is run under set weights and penalty conditions over a distance of 1200 metres with $150,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Vanity Stakes was won by Tallow from Misty Blue with Absolute Faith third.

The Vanity Stakes is the female equivalent of the CS Hayes Stakes for colts & geldings and is a 1400m event that takes place on the same day as the Gr1 Lightning Stakes. The Vanity attracts good quality fillies where the set weights & penalty conditions of the race favours the better performed fillies entered.
Fillies contesting this event may head on to similar type fillies races like the Gr2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1500m) in two weeks time at the Valley or the Gr2 Kewney Stakes (1600m) on the Super Saturday of racing at Flemington in March. Romneya (2009) went on to win the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic later in the autumn carnival.
Tallow (2010) ran a top second place in the Magic Millions 3yo Trophy before coming to Melbourne to win this event. Recent winners of the Vanity Stakes include Romneya (2009), Musidora (2008) and Universal Queen (2007).

2010 Vanity Stakes result: Tallow sat on tthe pace outside leader Misty Blue and bided her time until running to the lead inside the 200m and scoring a very solid win. Misty Blue battled on valiantly to hold down second spot from the fast finishing Absolute Faith third.
