The Queensland Derby is a Group 1 classic race for three-year-olds that takes place annually each June at Eagle Farm racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland. The race is run over a distance of 2400 metres under set weight conditions and worth $500,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Queensland Derby was won by Dariana from Kutchinsky with Miss Keepsake third.
The Queensland Derby is held on Eagle Farm's premier race day of the year which is Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap day and also includes the Group 1 The TJ Smith for two-year-olds.

The Queensland Derby was first run in 1871 and is the premier staying event for three-year-olds during the Brisbane winter carnival. It is a set weight race over the traditional Derby distance of 2400m. The race typically attracts local three-year-olds and any interstate horses after an easier Derby to win than the AJC Derby in Sydney or the Victoria Derby in Melbourne.
The Gr3 Rough Habit Plate (2020m) held two weeks earlier at Doomben and the Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes (2100m) one week earlier at the same track are the the most common Derby lead up races. These two races have provided two Derby winners of late with Empires Choice (2007) winning the Rough Habit & Qld Derby double and Ice Chariot (2006) taking out the Grand Prix & Derby double.
Shocking (2nd in 2009) went on to win the Gr1 Melbourne Cup later in the spring at Flemington racecourse during the Melbourne spring carnival.
Court Ruler (2009) ran fifth in the Rough Habit Plate on his way to winning the Derby while Larry's Never Late (3rd in 2009) ran third in both the Rough Habit Plate and Derby.
Dariana (2010) was left at the barrier in the Queensland Oaks and took no part in the fillies classic before scoring a very easy win against the males in this event. Recent Queensland Derby winners include Court Ruler (2009) and Riva San (2008).

2010 Queensland Derby: Dariana came from the ruck in the straight and burst to the 250m mark to bolt away for the easiest of wins. Kutchinsky came from well back in the field and tried hard but was no match for the filly. Miss Keepsake got home well for third place.
