The Rough Habit Plate is a Group 3 distance race for three-year-olds held annually each May at Doomben racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland. The race is run over a distance of 2020 metres under set weight conditions and worth $125,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Rough Habit Plate was won by The Hombre from Tee Emar with Sanderson third.

The Rough Habit Plate is a middle distance event for three-year-olds raced under set weight conditions over 2020m and provides the ideal lead up to the Gr1 Queensland Derby (2400m) later in the carnival at Eagle Farm. Empires Choice (2007), De Gaulle Lane (2001), Dodge (1998) & Tenor (1994) all managed to go on and win the Derby after winning this event.
Court Ruler (5th in 2009) went on to win the Queensland Derby at his next start, while Larry's Never Late (3rd in 2009) ran third in the Derby.
The Gr3 Gunsynd Classic (1600m) held two weeks earlier at Eagle Farm has been a good guide to this race in previous years with Belmonte (2006), Bob's Boy (2003), and Marble Halls (1997) all managing to take out both races.
The Hombre (2010) ran second in a 2000m three-year-old race in New Zealand before travelling to Australia to win this event and recent Rough Habit Plate winners include Rockdale (2009) and Mission Critical (2008).

2010 Rough Habit Plate: The Hombre raced handy all the way and he challenged on pacer Tee Emar in the run to the line and went down in a narrow photo, before gaining the race on protest for interference in the straight. Sanderson was always well back and made up a lot of ground in the straight to grab third.
