The Makybe Diva Stakes (formerly known as the Craiglee Stakes) is a 1600 metre Group 2 event raced under weight-for-age conditions each year at Flemington during the Melbourne spring racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1600 metres and worth $400,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Makybe Diva Stakes was won by Shocking from Heart Of Dreams with Vigor third.
The race was changed from the Craiglee Stakes to the Makybe Diva Stakes in 2007 in honour of champion mare and three time Melbourne Cup winner, Makybe Diva.

The Makybe Diva Stakes is a quality Group 2 event and signals the beginning of the middle distance races in coming weeks and being over 1600 metres it's a race that can suit a solid sprinter or an up and coming stayer. The roomy Flemington track with it's long straight gives all types of horses a chance whether they race on the pace or come from behind.
The Makybe Diva Stakes is the first mile stakes race of the Victorian racing season and is a handy lead up race for the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield in a fortnight and the Turnbull Stakes in one month's time at Flemington.
In recent times the race has been a handy guide to future big race performers and is a race that sees quality horses go around year after year.
Shocking (2010) ran unplaced when resuming in the Gr2 Liston Stakes before winning this race second-up and recent Makybe Diva Stakes winners include Vigor (2009) and Weekend Hussler (2008).

Typhoon Tracy (2nd in 2009) went on to win the Gr2 Tristarc Stakes on Caulfield Cup day before scoring a brilliant win in the Gr1 Myer Classic on Derby day at Flemington.
Pompeii Ruler (2006) ran third in the Gr1 WS Cox Plate after winning this race, while the tough Northerly (2002) scored the Makybe Diva Stakes & WS Cox Plate double in the same year.
Sky Heights (1999) kicked off a big spring campaign after taking out this event when he went on to win the Caulfield Cup and then finished a top third to Sunline in the WS Cox Plate.

2010 Makybe Diva Stakes: Shocking came from a mile back in the straight to race to the elad inside the final 100 metres and scored an outstanding win. Heart Of Dreams battled on gamely for second after racing on the pace while Vigor had a perfect run second behind the leadr and ran to the lead at the 300m mark and held on for a clear third.
