The Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival will take place over eighteen days on the Gold Coast, Queensland, in January 2012.
The Magic Millions carnival is held annually each January and has become an integral part of the Australian racing calendar and injects around $90 million-plus into the local economy.
The yearling sale attracts the most high profile buyers from around the world as well as leading Australian trainers, and yearlings purchased from the sale often go on to become elite gallopers at the highest level before becoming valuable stallions and broodmares after retirement.
The $2,000,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic and $1,000,000 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas are the highlight of the Magic Millions raceday on Saturday January 14th, 2012 at picturesque Gold Coast race track, with only graduates of the Magic Millions Sales eligible to contest each event.
2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions results
- 2011 Magic Millions 2yo Classic - The 2yo Trophy was won in outstanding style by the Queanbeyan trained filly Karuta Queen from the Neville Layt stable who defeated Matthew Smith filly Combat Kitty by 2.75 lengths with Gerald Ryan filly Schiffer a short-head away in third place in a time of 1:11.00.
- 2011 Magic Millions 3yo Guineas - was taken out by Brett Partelle gelding Torio's Quest from Wyong who won by one length from the Gold Coast trained Startsmeup from the Bruce Hill stable, while Gerald Ryan colt Top Drop was 3/4 length away third in a time of 1:22.93.
Note: The 3yo event changed from the '3yo Trophy' to the '3yo Guineas' for 2011.
