The Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival is held in May and June annually by the Brisbane Racing Club with major feature races taking place at both Doomben and Eagle Farm race tracks.
The major Group One feature races in Brisbane are the Doomben 10,000 at Doomben racecourse in May and the $1Million Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm in June. Both of these races attract quality sprinters from the southern states of Australia and the honour roll for both races sees many a good horse's name etched upon it. Eagle Farm is also home to the Brisbane Cup in June.
The Group One three-year-old classics, the Queensland Derby and Queensland Oaks, are also good events on the racing calendar at carnival time in Brisbane. Trainers from the southern states with an above average 3yo may be enticed to head north in May in the hope of winning an Oaks or Derby.
Doomben and Eagle Farm also hosts listed stakes races over the summer period in December with the Group Three George Moore Stakes in December being the main event.
