The RN Irwin Stakes is a Group 3 weight-for-age race that takes place annually on a Monday afternoon each March at Morphettville racecourse in Adelaide, South Australia. The RN Irwin Stakes is the first weight-for-age race at group level to be held during the Adelaide autumn racing carnival and takes place on Adelaide Cup day. The race tends to attract above average gallopers due to the level weights playing field and has been won by some nice types over the years, such as Bomber Bill (2003), Sports (1999), Street Ruffian (1992), Jet Fighter (1989) and champion SA galloper Redelva in 1988.

Sprinters contesting this event may go on to races such as the Gr3 DC Mackay Stakes or the feature Adelaide autumn sprint, the Gr1 Goodwood, later in the carnival. Blahnik (3rd in 2009) went on to run third in the Mackay Stakes after finishing third in this race.

Augusta Proud (2010) resumed with an unplaced run in a 1000m handicap race at this track before scoring here second-up with a strong finish. Recent winners of the RN Irwin Stakes include Diplomatic Force (2009) and Here De Angels (2008).

2010 RN Irwin Stakes: Augusta Proud settled worse than midfield in the small field and bided her time until unleashing a strong finish at the 200m mark to go on for a good win. Second position went to Commanding Hope who raced just off the pace before running home fairly in the straight, but no match for the winner. The rest of the field were bunched crossing the line and Cerberus Gal gained the nod in a very close photo, after racing on the pace.
