The Auraria Stakes is a Group 3 race for three-year-old fillies held annually late April early May at Morphettville racecourse in Adelaide, South Australia. The race is run over a distance of 1800 metres under set weight & penalty conditions and worth $100,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Auraria Stakes was won by Fairy Oak from El Spark with Legislature third.
Taking place on the same day as the Gr1 Goodwood, the Auraria Stakes will be held on a Sunday for the 2009/2010 racing season.

The Auraria Stakes is a three-year-old race for females only and suits fillies who may have previously raced in the Gr1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) or Gr2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) earlier in the carnival. The race more often than not will assemble a field of mainly local gallopers of average ability, although occasionally quality fillies may feature.
Typically, the winner of this event will not rise to any great heights and will simply go on to be a more than handy mare rather than an outstanding type.
Fairy Oak (2010) won a Kilmore maiden over 1600m prior to winning this race at only her fourth race start and recent winners of the Auraria Stakes have been Princess Pulse (2009) and Moment In Time (2008).

2010 Auraria Stakes: Fairy Oak raced on the pace before running to the lead in the straight only to be overtaken by Legislature (third) at the 200m mark before fighting back strongly and going away on the line to score a gutsy win over El Spark, who ran home strongly to claim second, while Legislature died slightly on her run to finish third.
