The Queen Of The South Stakes is a Group 2 race for fillies & mares held annually each April at Morphettville racecourse in Adelaide, South Australia during the Adelaide autumn racing carnival. The race is a 1600 metres event run under set weight & penalty conditions with $175,000 in prizemoney. The 2011 Queen Of The South Stakes was won by Goon Serpent from Lady Lynette with Ocean Challenger third.

Taking place on the same day as the Gr1 Australasian Oaks & Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes, the Queen Of the South Stakes is held alongside the Gr3 SA Chairmans Stakes & Gr3 DC Mckay Stakes.

Fillies & mares who can run a strong mile or further are best suited to this event as the field is generally a large one, full of talented gallopers, and the long straight lends itself to those gallopers who are strong at the finish.

Goon Serpent (2011) ran third in the listed City Of Adelaide Stakes over 1400m at Morphettville prior to her success in this event and recent Queen Of The South Stakes winners have been Returntosender (2010) and Bird Of Fire (2009).
