The Queen Of The South Stakes is a good race for fillies & mares that takes place during the Adelaide autumn racing carnival and the set weight & penalty conditions of the race suit the classier females entered for the event. The race will attract the best available females locally and any interested visitors from interstate and tends to be won by an above average filly or mare.
Fillies & mares that tackled the Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes in March may head on to this event, although it has not been a great guide in recent times.
Returntosender (2010) won a 1400m mares race at Caulfield prior to her success in this event and recent winners of the Queen Of The South Stakes have been Bird Of Fire (2009) and Trick Of Light (2008).
