Horses contesting this race may then go on to the Gr2 Alistair Clarke Stakes (1600m) in two weeks time or the Gr1 Australian Guineas (1600m) on the Super Saturday of racing at Flemington in March.

2010 CS Hayes Stakes: Take The Rap raced off the pace and came home well around the 200m mark to battle it out with on-pacer Encosta Belief to the line. Take The Rap got the upper hand in the final stanza to score by a neck. Encosta Belief fought on gallantly to claim second place, while Extra Zero was always well back and finished strongly for third.
