The race is run over a distance of 1600 metres and worth $125,000 in prize money. The 2019 Lord Mayors Cup was won by Order Again from Tom Melbourne with Le Juge third.
Held on Gr1 Doomben 10,000 day, the Lord Mayors Cup is one of several group races that feature on one of the biggest race days of the Brisbane winter racing carnival.

The Lord Mayors Cup is a 1600m race held under weight-for-age conditions that is typically contested by predominantly local gallopers. Not usually an overly high class affair, more often than not the Lord Mayors Cup is simply an event for handy types, although 1999 Caulfield Cup winner Sky Heights (2001) managed to win this race.
Lord Mayors Cup combatants may head on to a race like the Gr2 PJ O'Shea Stakes at Eagle Farm on Oaks Day, although it has not been a great guide in recent years.
Three-year-olds might consider tackling the Gr2 Queensland Guineas on Stradbroke day the following month at Eagle Farm. Rothesay (2010) went on to win the Gr2 Queensland Guineas at his next start.
Order Again (2019) ran fifth in the Listed Members' Handicap over 1600m at Doomben before taking out this event in great style for local trainer Brian Smith.
