The Doomben Cup is a Group 1 weight-for-age race held each May at Doomben racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland during the winter carnival. The race is run over the staying distance of 2020 metres and worth $500,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Doomben Cup was won by Metal Bender from Gold Water with Triple Honour third.

The Doomben Cup is the premier distance event of the Doomben racing carnival each winter in Brisbane. The weight-for-age conditions of the race gives the better performed horses an advantage and the race itself has been won by many of Australia's top gallopers, including Intergaze (1999), Might And Power (1998), Juggler (1996), Danewin (1995) and Queensland favourite Rough Habit in three consecutive years from 1991 to 1993.
The Gr2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) held two weeks previously at the Gold Coast is the best guide to this race with Metal Bender (2010) being the last horse to win both events. Above Deck (2002), Mr Bureaucrat (2002), Might And Power (1998), Danewin (1995), Durbridge (1994), Rough Habit (1991-92) all won the Hollindale Stakes before winning this race.
The natural progression for horses contesting the Doomben Cup is the Gr2 PJ O'Shea Stakes and Scenic Shot (2009) went on to win the PJ O'Shea Stakes before taking out the Gr2 Brisbane Cup later in the carnival.
Metal Bender (2010) won the Hollindale Stakes before scoring a close victory in this event and recent Doomben Cup winners include Scenic Shot (2009) and Sarrera (2008).

2010 Doomben Cup: Metal Bender was always handy in the run, and New Zealand galloper Sir Time Keeper set a very fast pace up front, which allowed Metal Bender to have last crack at them, and he finished hard in the final 50 metres to score a very narrow victory in a thrilling three-way go. Gold Water finished a very close second after racing on the pace and looking the winner in the shadows of the post, while Triple Honour was a lip away in third spot after being just off the pace and utlising a rails run in the straight to make a race of it.
