The Queensland Guineas is a Group 2 race for three-year-olds held each June at Eagle Farm racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland. The race is run over a distance of 1600 metres under set weight conditions and worth $250,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Queensland Guineas was won by Rothesay from Launay with Fifteen Carat third.
Taking place on Stradbroke Day which is Eagle Farm's biggest day of racing for the year, the Guineas is held along side the Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap, Gr1 Queensland Derby for three-year-olds and Gr1 The TJ Smith for two-year-olds.

The Queensland Guineas is a good 1600m event for three-year-olds who do not have the staying ability to tackle the longer 2400m distance of the Gr1 Queensland Derby on the same day. The race generally assembles more than handy 3yo gallopers who more often than not go on to become very capable racehorses.
The set weight race conditions favour the better types entered for the race and top horses like Yippio (1997), Paris Lane (1994), Triscay (1991) and Planet Ruler (1988) have all won this race. The Gr3 Fred Best Classic held on Doomben Cup day is the logical lead up to this event. Express Air (2009) ran fifth in the Fred Best Classic on his way to winning this race.
Rothesay (2010) won the Gr3 Lord Mayors Cup prior to his commanding win in this race and recent Queensland Guineas winners include Express Air (2009) and Turffontein (2008).

2010 Queensland Guineas: Rothesay didn't have a great deal of luck but he made his own anyway and produced a powerful run from back in the field to blitz them in the final 200m and score a quality win. Second placegetter Launay led them up and battled on very strongly in the straight to hold on to second from the fast finishing Fifteen Carat who grabbed third.
