The Hollindale Stakes is a Group 2 weight-for-age race held each May at the picturesque Gold Coast racecourse on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland. The race is run over a distance of 1800 metres and worth $300,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Hollindale Stakes was won by Metal Bender from Road To Rock with Gold Water third.
The Gold Coast race track is situated around 70 kilometres south of Brisbane and located about 5 minutes from the centre of Surfers Paradise.

The Hollindale Stakes takes place away from the city centre of Brisbane at the Gold Coast and is one of the bigger middle distance races of the winter carnival being, worth $300,000 and ran at weight-for-age. The Gold Coast racecourse also hosts the Gr3 Gold Coast Guineas on the same day.
The Hollindale Stakes has been won by some top class gallopers over the years, including Shogun Lodge (2000-01), Might And Power (1998), Danewin (1995) and Rough Habit in consecutive years in 1991 and 1992.
Horses contesting this event will most likely go on to tackle the Gr1 Doomben Cup (2020m) which is raced under the same conditions but steps up from 1800m to 2020m. Above Deck (2006) was the last horse to win both races and Mr Bureaucrat (2002), Might And Power (1998), Danewin (1995), Durbridge (1994), Rough Habit (1991-92) all won this race before going on to win the Doomben Cup.
Scenic Shot (5th in 2009) went on to score victories in the Doomben Cup, PJ O'Shea Stakes and Brisbane Cup in a very succesful Brisbane winter campaign.
Metal Bender (2010) ran unplaced in the Gr1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick prior to winning this event and recent winners of the Hollindale Stakes have been Fulmonti (2009) and Scenic Shot (2008).

2010 Hollindale Stakes: Metal Bender enjoyed a cosy run behind behind the leaders and he ran to the lead inside the 200m mark and proved too strong in the run to the line. Road To Rock was back in the field during the race and he battled to make any ground until the last 200m when he ran home well to just grab second in a photo. Gold Water raced on the pace before running to the lead in the straight and finished a game third.
