The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival revolves around the two principal clubs the Australian Jockey Club, which races at Randwick and Warwick Farm, and the Sydney Turf Club, which races at Rosehill and Canterbury Park. The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival focus is on the two major periods of racing for each club with the Golden Slipper Festival at Rosehill Gardens and the Doncaster Hcp Easter Carnival at Royal Randwick.

The Sydney autumn carnival is the major racing carnival in New South Wales each year and both the AJC and STC will offer a combined $21.8 million in total prize money over the carnival. The Gr2 Expressway Stakes(1200m) at Rosehill in February is the first group race of the new year in Sydney, while the Chipping Norton Stakes(1600) at Warwick Farm in March is the first Group One race of the year.

The Sydney Turf Club hosts the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, the $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes(1200m) at Rosehill racecourse on Saturday, April 4th. Slipper Day now features five Group 1 races in total, including the $2.25M BMW(2400m) and is one of the great days of racing in Australia.

A week after the Slipper, Randwick is the centre of attention when the Australian Jockey Club's carnival begins at Randwick racecourse on Saturday, April 11th. Races such as the $1.6 million AJC Australian Derby(2400m), $2 million Doncaster Handicap(1600m), and the $500,000 AJC Australian Oaks(2400m) all lead up to the running of four Group 1 races on the final day, highlighted by the $700,000 Sydney Cup over 3200m.
