Canterbury race track is situated about 15 minutes south-west of Sydney's city centre and is the major
midweek racing venue in Sydney and
home of night racing which has a fully enclosed
air-conditioned betting area. It is home to the Sydney Turf Club.
Sydney Turf Club
The Sydney Turf Club (STC) was founded in 1943 and is the youngest of Australia's Principal Race Clubs. It was formed following an Act passed by the New South Wales parliament called the Sydney Turf Club Act. The Act had taken 40 years to draft and gave the club the power to hold 62 race meetings a year at the Rosehill and Canterbury tracks.
Sydney Turf Club conducts more than 60 race meetings each year and manages Rosehill Gardens as well as Canterbury Park.
Canterbury Racing Carnival
Canterbury no longer has a racing carnival as all feature races have been moved accross to Rosehill racecourse as the Canterbury track is predominantly used now for midweek and night racing.
