Ascot race track is headquarters for racing in the state of Western Australia and is located 8 kilometres east of the Perth city centre with the head office of the Western Australian Turf Club positioned directly opposite. Racing at Ascot takes place in the summer months which is around November to April.
Perth Racing (formerly the Western Australian Turf Club) has been hosting thoroughbred racing in Western Australia for over 150 years, and is responsible for the two riverside racecourses of Ascot and Belmont, both located not far from the city of Perth.
Ascot hosts it major carnival each year during Summer and Autumn. In the summer months of November & December Ascot host a three week 3 day carnival where the major race is the $1,000,000 Gr1 Railway Stakes, while in the autumn months of April & May the Gr1 WATC Derby is held for three-year-olds.
The Perth Cup is a time honoured event in Perth and is held each year on New Year's Day.

Ascot has a well drained track with a circumference of 2,200 metres and an inclining straight of 300m which can test a horse's mettle in the run to the line. A horse can win from in front or behind at Ascot.
