The WA Champion Fillies Stakes is a well regarded set weight race for three-year-old fillies in Western Australia and is only exceeded in prizemoney by the Gr3 WA Oaks (2400m) the next month at the same track. Typically the winner will be just a more than handy local galloper who will not go on to be anything special and be competitive in similar type races.
This race is the logical lead up to the WA Oaks and winners or placegetters in this race may go on and tackle the feature 3yo event for fillies in early April.
Le Plunge (2010) ran sixth in the listed Challenge Stakes over 1400m prior to winning this race and recent winners of the WA Champion Fillies Stakes have been Danebeela (2009) and Spirited One (2008).

2010 WA Champion Fillies Stakes: Le Plunge led the field on settling and continued to lead into the straight before finding plenty when pressured at the 200m mark, and went on for a comfortable win in the end. Impressive Jeuney raced on the pace all the way and was unable to overhaul the leader, but held on well for second place. For Your Eyes Only was always well back and worked home strongly to finish in third spot.
