The Theo Marks Stakes is a Group 2 quality handicap for 3yo & upwards horses held each September at Rosehill racecourse during the Sydney spring racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1300 metres and worth $200,000 in prizemoney. The 2012 Theo Marks Stakes was won by Ambidexter from Fat Al with Dystopia third.
Run as the Sebring Stakes in recent years, the Theo Marks Stakes is held on the same day as the $1,000,000 Gr1 Golden Rose & Gr3 Kingston Town Stakes.
The Theo Marks Stakes is a handicap event over 1300 metres that serves as a good follow up race to the Gr3 Concorde Stakes held earlier in the carnival and Theo Marks Stakes entrants will most likely head towards the Randwick carnival and races like the Gr2 Shannon Stakes and Gr1 Epsom Hcp, as they are a natural progession in conditions and distance.
Smart galloper Racing to Win (2006) won the Theo Marks & Epsom Handicap double and he returned to win this race again three years later. The Theo Marks Stakes has been won by some more than handy types over the years including More Joyous (2010), Defier (2002), Shogun Lodge (2001), Adam (1999) and Catelan Opening (1997)
Ambidexter (2012) resumed from an autumn spell to win this event and recent Theo Marks Stakes winners have been Master Of Design (2011) and More Joyous (2010).
