The Rose of Kingston Stakes is a Group 2 race for mares held annually each October at Flemington racecourse during the Melbourne spring racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres under set weights and penalty conditions and is worth $250,000 in prizemoney.
Taking place on Gr1 Turnbull Stakes day, the 2009 Rose Of Kingston Stakes was won by Cats Whisker from Gold Water with Dane Julia third.
The race has had a number of name changes over the years and has previously been known as the 'Honda Prelude', 'Hardy Brothers Prelude', and 'Jayco Stakes'. The race was run as the 'Blazer Stakes' in 2009.

The Rose of Kingston Stakes is a mares event over a distance of 1400 metres and the set weights and penalty conditions make it a race where typically the best mare will salute. The race itself is a handy mares event that has been won by some nice types in Divine Madonna (2006), Will Fly (1997), and Excited Angel in 1993.
Cats Whiskers (2009) ran second in the Gr2 Stocks Stakes prior to winning this race and in recent times the Rose of Kingston Stakes has been won by Bellini Rose (2008), Vormista (2007) and Divine Madonna in 2006.

Spring Carnival Guide
The Rose of Kingston Stakes winner in 2007 Vormista ran 2nd in the Manikato Stakes before winning this event. Bellini Rose(2nd in 2007) finished 3rd in the Milady Stakes and then ran a top 2nd in the Tristarc Stakes, while El Pauji(3rd in 2007) managed a 3rd in the listed Summoned Stakes on Sandown Guineas day in the spring of 2007. Divine Madonna(2006) had a top spring of 2007 winning both the Gr1 Toorak Hcp and Gr1 Empire Rose Stakes.
