The Railway Stakes is a Group 1 open handicap race held annually at Ascot racecourse in Perth, Western Australia each November. The race takes place in springtime two weeks after the end of the Melbourne Cup carnival in Melbourne. It is worth $1,000,000 in prizemoney and was taken out in 2008 by talented local galloper Gilded Venom from Sniper's Bullet with Annenkov third.

The Railway Stakes is the biggest race held during the Perth summer racing carnival and with prizemoney of $1,000,000 it has become a very prestigous event in Western Australia. Horses from the recently finished Melbourne spring carnival may head towards this race for the big dollars on offer, while the Gr3 Asian Beau Stakes(1400m) and Gr3 RJ Peters Stakes(1500m) are considered key lead up races to this event. The hot conditions in Perth suits local horses who have a good record in the race. Winners and placegetters might go on to tackle the Gr1 Kingston Town Classic(1800m) in two week's time at the same track.
The race has been taken out in recent times by El Presidente(2007), Belle Bizarre(2006), and Covertly in 2005.
