The Premiere Stakes is a Group 2 weight-for-age race held each year in August at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney. The race is a sprint event over a distance of 1200 metres and worth $150,000 in prizemoney. The 2009 Premiere Stakes produced a dead-heat between Mentality and Kroner with Phelan Ready finishing in third position.

The Premiere Stakes is often contested by horses who have previously run two weeks earlier in the WFA Missile Stakes, as it is run under similar conditions but with an extra 100 metres added. It is a good race for a fit winter type, up and coming horse, or returning star of the turf, and is a race that is typically won by a more than handy type.
Some handy horses have saluted in the Premiere Stakes, including Triple Honour (2008), Spark of Life (2004), Mr Innocent (1999-2000), and Joanne (1991-92).
Recent winners of the Premiere Stakes have been Triple Honour (2008), German Chocolate (2007) and Paratroopers in 2006.

2009 Premiere Stakes: Mentality led and kicked in the straight and Kroner was the only horse able to make ground on the leader and managed to pull even at the post, while Phelan Ready ran on to finish third without ever looking likely.
