The Hawkesbury Gold Cup is a Group 3 open handicap race held during Melbourne Cup week on a Thursday each year in November at Hawkesbury racecourse in New South Wales. The Hawkesbury track is located about 65km west of the Sydney city centre, between Richmond and Windsor, and is directly opposite the Richmond Air Force Base.
The race is run over a distance of 1600m and takes place on the same day as Gr1 Crown Oaks day in Melbourne and is worth $130,000 in prizemoney. The 2009 Hawkesbury Gold Cup was won by Keepin The Dream from Spinney with Bernicia third.

The Hawkesbury Gold Cup is an average country cup race that normally attracts handy local types or horses that make the trip from Sydney. Most of the quality gallopers are down south tackling the big money races on offer at the Flemington spring carnival in Melbourne and this race typically fields handy type rather than the elite.
Recent winners of the Hawkesbury Gold Cup include Nuclear Sky (2008) and Beauty Watch in 2006. The race was not run in 2007 due to the equine flu outbreak in NSW at the time.

2009 Hawkesbury Gold Cup: Keepin The Dream got to the lead inside the 200m and kept going strongly to hold off a late challenge from Spinney who came home strongly to get second, while Bernicia loomed up for a big finish at the 200m mark but couldn't sustain the run and finished a close-up third.
