The Concorde Stakes is a Group 3 quality handicap for three-year-olds and upwards and held at Rosehill racecourse during the spring racing carnival each year around late August or early September. The race takes place on $1,000,000 Gr1 Golden Rose day and is a sprint event run over a distance of 1100 metres with prizemoney of $125,000. The 2009 Concorde Stakes was won by rank outsider Friday Creek from McClintock with Ahdashim third.

The Concorde Stakes is a good sprint race for this time of year and has been won in past years by some nice types, including Guineas (1999), Armidale (1997) and Joanne in 1991. Races like the Gr2 Theo Marks Stakes at Rosehill or the Gr3 Cameron Handicap at Newcastle are later options for horses contesting this event.
Raheeb (2nd in 2008) was a stylish winner of the Cameron Handicap later in the carnival while McClintock (2nd in 2009) finished runner-up in the Cameron that same year.
Regal Cheer (2nd in 2006) went on to finish 3rd in the Theo Marks Stakes, while Dance the Waves (2nd in 2005) ran second in the G2 Caulfield Sprint at Caulfield on Cup that same spring.
In recent times the Concorde Stakes has been taken out by Typhoon Zed (2008) and was not held in 2007 due to the swine flu, while Mustard scored in 2006.

Race: Friday Creek took advantage of the frenetic pace up front and came with a well timed run in the straight to win at big odds from McClintock who raced handily all the way and battled on strongly for second, while Ahdashim finished in a good manner for third.
