The Chelmsford Stakes is a Group 2 weight-for-age race held each September at Randwick racecourse in Sydney. The race is a 1600 metres event worth $150,000 in prizemoney and is a well regarded event held early during the Sydney spring racing carnival. The race was won in 2009 by O'lonhro from Miss Marielle with Triple Honour third.

The Chelmsford Stakes is a the first weight-for-age race over a mile in the new racing season in Sydney and the Gr2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) held a fortnight earlier is a great lead up race to this event, as it is similar conditions but 200 metres less.
The Chelmsford Stakes itself is a good lead up race to the Gr1 George Main Stakes (1600m) in three weeks at Randwick.
Recent winners of the Chelmsford Stakes include Gallant Tess (2008) while the 2007 event was not run due to the flu virus in NSW at the time, and prior to that was taken out by Eremien (2006).

2009 Chelmsford Stakes: O'lonhro got out nicely and took a sit behind early leader Court Command before making his move entering the straight and he forged clear in the run to the line to win in solid fashion. Miss Marielle ran on strongly to finish a good second, while Triple Honour loomed up at the 200m before weakening to finish third. Early leader Court Command finished fourth after failing to run the trip right out.
