The Belmont Sprint is a Group 3 open handicap race held each June at Belmont racecourse in Perth, Western Australia. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres and worth $125,000 in prizemoney. The 2011 Belmont Sprint was won by Grand Nirvana from King Kool Kat with Battle Emblem third.
The Belmont Sprint usually attracts those horses who previously contested the Gr3 Roma Cup at the same track which is run under the same conditions, but 200m less, and usually the race will assemble the best available local sprinters going around.
Grand Nirvana (2011), Modem (2004) and Tribula (2003) have won the Roma Cup & Belmont Sprint double in recent years, while multiple horses have run places in both races or placed in the Roma Cup and gone on to win this race or vice versa.
Grand Nirvana (2011) won the Roma Cup on his way to winning this race for the second year in a row and recent Belmont Sprint winners have been Grand Nirvana (2010) and Universal Ruler (2009).
