The Asian Beau Stakes is a Group 3 quality handicap race held annually at Ascot racecourse in Perth, Western Australia in late October or early November during the Perth summer racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres and worth $125,000 in prizemoney. The 2011 Asian Beau Stakes was won by Luckygray from Mega Steel with Tranquility third.
The Asian Beau Stakes is the first quality handicap of the season in Perth and suits more than handy types resuming or horses who are fit & in-form and can get in with a light weight to beat the handicapper.
The race takes place on the same day as the Victoria Derby in Melbourne and competitors from the Asian Beau Stakes may decide to head on to upcoming handicap races such as the Gr3 Colonel Reeves or Gr3 RJ Peters Stakes later in the carnival at the same track.
The Gr1 $1 Million Railway Stakes three weeks later is another race that may be on the cards for horses contesting this race and the field typically attracts the best fit & in-form local horses going around at the time.
Luckygray (2011) won a BM74+ Handicap event over 1400m at Ascot prior to winning this event and recent Asian Beau Stakes winners have been Colour Correct (2010) and Kasabian (2009).
