The Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival is held in May and June annually with the Brisbane Turf Club holding its carnival at Doomben, while the Queensland Turf Club hosts carnival racing at Eagle Farm.

The major Group 1 feature races in Brisbane are the $650,000 Doomben 10,000(1350m) run by the BTC in May at Doomben racecourse, and the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap(1400m) run by the QTC at Eagle Farm in June. Both of these races attract quality sprinters from the southern states of Australia and the honour roll sees many a good horse's name etched upon it. The QTC is also home to the $500,000 Brisbane Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm racecourse.

The $400,000 Queensland Oaks(2400m) and $500,000 Queensland Derby(2400m) are also good three-year-old Gr1 races on the racing calendar at carnival time in Brisbane. Trainers from the southern states with an above average 3yo may be enticed to head north in May in the hope of winning an Oaks or Derby.

Doomben and Eage Farm also hosts listed stakes races over the summer period in December with the Gr3 $200,000 George Moore Stakes on December 6th being the main event.
