The Tulloch Stakes is a Group 2 race for three-year-old colts & geldings held each year in April at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 2000 metres under set weight conditions and worth $175,000 in prizemoney. The 2011 Tulloch Stakes was won by Fast Clip from I Think I Do with Shootoff third.
The Tulloch Stakes is held one week before the Gr1 AJC Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick and gives three-year-old colts & geldings a final hit out at 2000m in preparation for the extra 400 metres of the Derby the following week.
The last horse to win the Tulloch Stakes & AJC Derby double was Starcraft (2004) and the race tends to attract more than handy types rather than superstars, although good horses such as Ivory's Irish (1995), Mahogany (1994) and Durbridge (1991) were all successful in this race before going on to win the Derby.
Fast Clip (2011) ran second in the Gr2 Phar Lap Stakes prior to scoring in this event and recent winners of the Tulloch Stakes have been Count Encosta (2010) and Harris Tweed (2009).
