The Todman Slipper Trial is a Group 2 race for two-year-old colts & geldings that takes place each March at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1200 metres under set weight conditions and worth $300,000 in prizemoney. The 2013 Todman Slipper Trial was won by Criterion from Fast 'n' Rocking with Havana third.

Held on the same day as the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Classic and Gr1 Ranvet Stakes, the winner is of the Todman Slipper Trial is exempt from ballot for the Golden Slipper Stakes.

The Todman Slipper Trial is a race for two-year-old colts & geldings only and is generally used as a lead up race to the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes, which is held in two weeks time over the same course and distance. Pierro (2012) was the last two-year-old to win the Todman Slipper Trial & Golden Slipper Stakes double.

The race will typically attract 2yo males on their way to the Slipper, and being run at level weights it generally suits the classier types entered. The winner of this race has the luxury of being exempt from the Golden Slipper ballot, which ensures a run is guaranteed in the $3.5 million race.

Colts & geldings tackling this race may have previously run in the Gr2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) one week earlier at Randwick, and they also have the option to tackle the Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) the following week at Rosehill, before running in the Slipper.

Runner-up Phelan Ready (2nd in 2009) went on to win the 2009 Golden Slipper Stakes after finishing second in this event, while Real Saga (2009) ran fourth in the Slipper.

Outstanding Gai Waterhouse galloper Pierro (2012) won this race first-up from a spell after winning the listed Breeders Stakes on debut during the spring, before going on to win the Golden Slipper and Gr1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes at his next two starts.

Criterion (2013) won the listed Black Opal Stakes over 1200m at Canberra prior to winning this event and recent Todman Slipper Trial winners include Pierro (2012) and Smart Missile (2011).
