The Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes is a race for two-year-old fillies that is run down the Flemington 'Straight Six' 1200m course which is a straight track with no turns involved and suits some horses more than others. Some two-year-olds can find the long straight a bit challenging if it is their first attempt at the course and any 2yo with experience down the straight has an advantage.
Fillies may tackle this race after competing in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes a couple of weeks earlier and the winner is typically just a handy filly who will most likely go on and be competitive in similar type races against her own age.
Shaaheq (2010) was runner-up in the Blue Diamond Stakes prior to her comfortable win in this race and recent winners of the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes include My Emotion (2009) and Oval Affair (2008).

2010 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes: Shaaheq sat just off the pace until around the 300m mark when she put herself in the race and she got away 150m from the line to go on for a strong win. Sublime Girl got home fairly along the inside to claim second spot ahead of Marvellous Miss who battled on well for third.
