The Sweet Embrace Stakes is a Group 3 race for two-year-old fillies that takes place each March at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales during the sutumn racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1200 metres under set weight conditions and worth $125,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Sweet Embrace Stakes was won by Crystal Lily from Ambers Waltz with Zutara third.
The winner of this race is exempt from ballot for the Golden Slipper Stakes.

The Sweet Embrace Stakes is for 2yo fillies only and allows the female youngsters a chance to step up to 1200m for the first time in a group race during autumn. Quite often the extra 100 metres of this race from previous 2yo open races like the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) and Gr3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) will find some fillies out, while others will be coming home strongly looking for more ground.
This race will sort out those gallopers who are strong at 1200m and may have a realistic chance in the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) in April. The last filly to win this race and go on to win the Slipper was Ha Ha (2001), while Headway (2009) ran an excellent race to finish runner-up in the 2009 Golden Slipper Stakes.
Two-year-olds tackling this event have the option of heading to Rosehill for the Gr2 Reisling Slipper Trial the following week or the Gr2 Magic Night Stakes in a fortnight. Both races are for 2yo gallopers over the same course & distance as the $3.5M Golden Slipper Stakes and provide the ideal final tune up for Australia's richest two-year-old race.
Crystal Lily (2010) won the listed Chairman's Stakes at Caulfield prior to winning this race in easy fashion and recent winners of the Sweet Embrace Stakes have been Headway (2009) and Stripper (2008).

2010 Sweet Embrace Stakes: Crystal Lily raced on the pace all the way and when called upon in the straight at the 300m mark she was momentarily challenged by Ambers Waltz before showing a great turn of foot and racing away for the easiest of wins. Second placegetter Ambers Waltz loomed up menacingly at the 300m point before dying on her run, while Zutara was getting home nicely for third.
