The Surround Stakes is a Group 2 race for three-year-old fillies held annually each March at Warwick Farm racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres under set weight conditions and worth $200,000 in prizemoney. The 2011 Surround Stakes was won by Parables from Red Tracer with Rose Of Peace third.
The Surround Stakes is a good race for three-year-old fillies that is raced at level weights and suits the better performed females in the race. The Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes is the ideal lead up race to this event and Gold Edition (2007) and More Joyous (2009) have taken out both races in recent times.
The race is held on Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes day and generally attracts good types heading towards the bigger 3yo fillies races to come at Rosehill and Randwick in following weeks.
Parables (2011) ran third in the Light Fingers Stakes before scored in this event and recent Surround Stakes winners have been More Joyous (2010) and Portillo (2009).
