The Skyline Stakes is a Group 3 race for two-year-old colts & geldings that takes place each March at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales during the autumn carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1200 metres under set weight conditions and worth $125,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Skyline Stakes was won by Hinchinbrook from Brightexpectations with Pressday third.
The winner of this race is exempt from ballot for the Golden Slipper Stakes.

The Skyline Stakes is for 2yo colts & geldings only and allows them the chance to step up to 1200m for the first time in the autumn at group level. Taking place on Gr1 Randwick Guineas day, the race will sort out those gallopers who can run a strong 1200m and may have a genuine chance in the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) in April. The last 2yo to win the Skyline Stakes and then go on to win the Golden Slipper was Dance Hero in 2004
Quite often the extra 100 metres of this race from previous 2yo open races like the Gr2 Siliver Slipper Stakes (1100m) and Gr2 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) will find any chinks in the armour of speedy types who are unable to run out the 1200m journey.
Two-year-olds from this race can go on to either the Gr2 Todman Slipper Trial the following week or the Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes in two weeks time. Both races are for 2yo gallopers at Rosehill and run over the same course & distance as the $3.5M Golden Slipper Stakes, which provides the ideal final hit out to Australia's richest two-year-old race.
Manhattan Rain (2009) went on to run a top third in the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill before claiming the Gr1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick on Doncaster day and running a gallant third in the Gr1 Champagne Stakes one week later.
Hinchinbrook (2010) won the listed Canonbury Stakes on debut, prior to winning this race at his second race start. Recent winners of the Skyline Stakes have been Manhattan Rain (2009) and All American (2008).

2010 Skyline Stakes: Hinchinbrook was back last of the small field as they rounded the turn and he was extremely well ridden to find a passage through the middle of the field and get to the lead inside the final 100 metres for a good win. Brightexpectations led the field into the straight and fought the race out valiantly to go down by less than a half length from the winner. Pressday raced on the pace and came on over the final 150 metres to run third.
