The Sires was previously held at the existing Morphettville track prior to 2010 and will now take place at the newly formed Morphettville Parks course. The 2010 SA Sires Produce Stakes was taken out by Stirling Grove from The Ruffian with Safe third.

The Sires Produce Stakes is the first group race held for two-year-olds over a distance longer than 1200m during the Adelaide autumn carnival and the Gr3 The Jansz National Stakes (1200m) held two weeks previously is the typical lead up race to this event.
The 1400m distance of the race suits 2yo gallopers looking for more ground and it is worth noting that 2008 winner Rebel Raider went on to win the Gr1 AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) as a 3yo the following spring.
Silent Surround (2009) was most competitive during the Melbourne spring as a three-year-old, running third in the Gr2 Edward Manifold Stakes and then second in the Gr2 Wakeful Stakes, both at Flemington.
Stirling Grove (2010) ran second in the Gr2 The Jansz prior to winning this race and recent winners of the SA Sires Produce Stakes have been Slient Surround (2009) and Rebel Raider (2008).

2010 SA Sires Produce Stakes: Stirling Grove sat second on the fence behind the leader (Safe) and in the final 200m he ran to the lead and scored the easiest of victories. The Ruffian came from a long way back in the stright to get home strongly for second, while Safe held on gamely for third after leading for much of the way.
