The Royal Sovereign Stakes is a Group 2 race for three-year-old colts & geldings that takes place each February at Warwick Farm racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1200 metres under set weight conditions and is worth $175,000 in prizemoney. The 2011 Royal Sovereign Stakes was won Master Harry from Audacious Spirit with Skilled third.

The race is held on Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes day alongside the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes.

The Royal Sovereign Stakes is a set weights race for colts & geldings and generally attracts more than handy types on their way to the better 3yo races to come during the autumn. It's the first group race on offer in the new year for three-year-old males combatants may continue on towards races like the Gr2 Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill or the Gr1 Randwick Guineas at Randwick.

Lonhro (2002), Guineas (1998), Danewin (1995) and Shaftesbury Avenue (1990) are quality gallopers to have won this event and the Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes is the fillies equivalent of this race and takes place on the same day at Randwick.

Master Harry (2011) finished runner-up in a 3yo handicap race over 1000m at Moonee Valley before travellling to Sydney to win this event and recent Royal Sovereign Stakes winners have been Shoot Out (2010) and Youthful Jack (2009).
