The Rosehill Guineas is a Group 1 race for three-year-olds held annually in late March at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales during the autumn racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 2000 metres under set weight conditions and worth $500,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 Rosehill Guineas was won by Zabrasive from Rock Classic with Run For Naara third.

The Rosehill Guineas is a good horse's race and one of the better 3yo events to be held during the Sydney autumn carnival. The Rosehill Guineas is the first test at 2000m for three-year-olds at the elite level and the Gr1 Randwick Guineas is the logical lead up to this race. Classy 3yo Metal Bender scored the Randwick Guineas & Rosehill Guineas double in 2009.
The race has been won by some of Australia's very best three-year-olds, including Sky Heights (1999), Tie The Knot (1998), Octagonal (1996), Danewin (1995), Naturalism (1992) and Sky Chase in 1988.
The Guineas is the first real staying test for three-year-olds in Group One class and is often a good pointer to the premier 3yo event of the autumn, the Gr1 AJC Australian Derby over 2400m in two weeks time. The last horse to win both races was Eremein in 2005, and before that, Sky Heights in 1999.
The Rosehill Guineas of 2008 provided 2nd (Red Ruler), 3rd (Littorio), and 4th (Dealer Principal) placegetters in that years AJC Derby, while 2009 AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor ran fifth in this race prior to his Derby success of 2009.
Zabrasive (2010) ran fourth in the Randwick Guineas before winning this race and recent winners of the Rosehill Guineas have been Metal Bender (2009) and Dealer Principal (2008).

2010 Rosehill Guineas: Zabrasive sat second behind the leader (Gathering) all the way and made his move inside the 300m mark to get the upper hand in the straight, before being headed in the final stanza by second placegetter Rock Classic, but Zabrasive fought back near the finishing line to get the nod in as they passed the post.
Rock Classic raced third in the run and worked his way into the race at the 300m and fought a thrilling battle with the winner in the final bit to go down narrowly in second place. The filly Run For Naara came from a long way back on the turn to make up many lengths for third.
