The Randwick City Stakes is the first handicap race over longer than a mile during the autumn carnival in Sydney and takes place on Gr1 Randwick Guineas day.
Being over 2000m, the race suits solid middle distance types and provides a good lead up race to the Gr2 Chairmans Handicap (2600m) in around a month's time.
The race is generally contested by more than capable gallopers and No Wine No Song (2008) went on to win the Chairman's Handicap later in the autumn after winning this event.
The Embassy (2010) ran fourth in a Rosehill 1800m handicap on his way to winning this event and recent winners of the Randwick City Stakes have been Newport (2009) and No Wine No Song (2008).

2010 Randwick City Stakes: The Embassy was patiently ridden and rounded them up inside the 200 metres and ran away for the easiest of wins. Alexander Of Hales came home fairly well to grab second from Deltona who battled on for third.
