The Queen Of The Turf Stakes is a fillies & mares event that is raced under weight-for-age conditions and gives the better females an advantage, especially if there is an outstanding 3yo filly in the field.
Many of the fillies & mares who contested the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Classic (1500m) two weeks earlier will most likely back up in this race as it over the same course & distance, although it goes from a handicap to weight-for-age which suits the classier gallopers. The last female to win both races was Camino Rose in 1999.
Typhoon Tracy (2010) won the Gr1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield in Melbourne prior to her outstanding victory in this event and recent winners of the Queen Of the Turf Stakes have been Neroli (2009) and Forensics (2008).

Queen Of The Turf Stakes: Typhoon Tracy box seated behind leader Montana Flyer before getting out into the middle of the track in the straight and unlesshing her un inside the 200m mark and she kicked away for a most impressive victory. Illuminates ran homw strongly from well back to grab second from Montana Flyer who held her ground gamely to take thrid spot.
