The Frances Tressady Stakes is a handy group race on the calendar for mares looking to add a stakes race to their resume. Mares may contest the Gr2 Sunline Stakes or the Gr3 Mannerism Stakes before tackling this event, and the winner is more often than not simply a handy mare who may go on to race well in similar events.
Some mares from this race will consider going on to the Gr 3 Matron Stakes over 1600m and under the same weighted conditions one week later at the same track.
Typhoon Tracy (2009) went on to win the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Classic at Rosehill during the Sydney autumn racing carnival after winning this event. Typhoon Tracy has since gone on to become one of the best mares in the country, winning multiple Gr1 races, including the Myer Classic and CF Orr Stakes.
Be Positive (2010) finished runner-up in the Mannerism Stakes prior to winning this race and recent winners of the Frances Tressady Stakes include Typhoon Tracy (2009) and Coniston Gem (2008).

2010 Frances Tressady Stakes: Be Positive jumped well to lead on settling and once they got to the 400m mark Red Flair, who raced second all the way, started to put pressure on the leader before Be Positive got the upper hand in the final bit to prove too strong. Red Flair held on for second place while Flying Ruby was always well back and ran on strongly for third.
