The CF Orr Stakes is a good weight-for-age race that always attracts more than handy gallopers and the honour roll over the years has seen many a top class horse on the list. Horses such as El Segundo (2007), Lonhro (2004), Redoute's Choice (2000), Saintly (1997), and Vo Rogue three times from 1988-90 shows the quality of horse to salute in this event.
The Gr2 Australia Stakes (1200m WFA) is a good lead up race the the CF Orr Stakes as it is raced under the same conditions except for an increase in distance for this race. The 2008 WS Cox Plate winner Maldivian resumed from a spell to win this race first-up in 2009.

2010 CF Orr Stakes: Typhoon Tracy sat second behind leader Danzylum before racing to the lead as they entered the straight and she kicked away in the final 200m for a dominant win. Heart Of Dreams raced back in third spot off the pace and ran on fairly for second, while Sirmione ran a top race first-up from a long spell to grab third.
