The AJC Australian Oaks is a Group 1 race for three-year-old fillies that is held annually one week after the AJC Australian Derby each April at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over 2400 metres under set weight conditions and worth $350,000 in prizemoney. The 2010 AJC Australian Oaks was won by Once Were Wild from Faint Perfume with Run For Naara third.
The AJC Australian Oaks takes place on one of the biggest days of racing at Randwick each year, which is Doncaster Handicap day, and the feature sprint race The Galaxy is also run on the same day.

The AJC Australian Oaks is is the premier race for three-year-old fillies during the Sydney autumn carnival and is run over the classic oaks distance of 2400m at set weights which favours the better females in the race.
The race is a blue ribbon event for young females on the Australian racing calendar and can increase the winner's value immeasurably should they go on to become a broodmare at the end of their career. Any 3yo fillies competing in the Oaks may come via the Gr1 Storm Queen Stakes (2000m) two weeks previously or the Gr2 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) held one week earlier.
The race has been won by some classy fillies over the years, including Grand Archway (1999), Triscay (1991) and Research (1989), who all went on to become outstanding mares of the Australian turf.
Once Were Wild (2010) ran fifth in the Storm Queen Stakes prior to her brilliant win in this event and recent winners of the AJC Oaks have been Daffodil (2009) and Heavenly Glow (2008).

2010 Australian Oaks: Once Were Wild raced second until just before the turn where he made a move and upon straightening he ran to the lead and bounded away to score a brilliant victory by a good space. Faint Perfume was always well back and flew home late for second, but was never going to catch the eventual winner, who scored by a good margin. Run For Naara ran an honest third after sitting on the pace all the way and she finished a fair way back in third spot.
