The Adelaide Cup is a Group 2 open handicap race held annually on a Monday afternoon each March at Morphettville racecourse in Adelaide, South Australia. The race is run over a distance of 3200 metres with prizemoney of $400,000. The 2010 Adelaide Cup was won by Capecover from Kerdem with Itstheone third.

The Adelaide Cup is the premier distance race of the Adelaide autumn racing carnival and it is an open handicap run over a distance of 3200m (2 miles), which is the same distance as Australia's most famous race, the Melbourne Cup at Flemington.
The race is typically not a high quality affair and generally attracts the best available local stayers and any interstate horses suited by the conditions. It has not been a great guide to Australia's most famous race and the last horse to win the Adelaide Cup & Melbourne Cup double was Subzero in 1992.
Capecover (2010) ran unplaced in the Gr3 Lord Reims Stakes prior to his win in this race and recent winners of the Adelaide Cup have been Zavite (2009) and Lacey Underall (2008).

2010 Adelaide Cup: The race was set up for horses to come from behind and Capecover left his run until well into the straight and came with a strong finish down the outside alongside Kerdem, and inside the final 100m Capecover got the upper hand to gain victory. Kerdem battled on well to finish runner-up for the second consecutive year, in a close photo finish from the fast closing Itstheone who came third.
